Il Bestiario di Beppe Gromi

‘Bestiary of the Third Millennium’, the new exhibition by Beppe Gromi, a multi-talented artist from Avigliana – painter, playwright and director – is a fantastical journey amongst mutant creatures, guided by a flow of black ink that compels them to reveal their multifaceted identities.

The Bestiary is a collection of 42 illustrations inhabited by multiform creatures which, at first glance, may appear as a child might describe them: “amusing and slightly unsettling…”.

All the illustrations are created using a black Bic ballpoint pen, where the line work inevitably evokes the influences absorbed over time, fuelled by a gaze that is constantly drawn to the fantastical and surreal, but also by the constant observation of our own transformations and the world both within and without us.
